Newsweek is seeking an SEO Content Writer to join our team and contribute to our Workplaces section. As an SEO Content Writer, you will write evergreen content about topics including employment trends, AI in the workplace, DEI, career advice, job seeking tips, leadership, and more. Your writing will play a pivotal role in educating our audience, driving organic traffic, and positioning Newsweek as an authoritative name in this space. Over time, you may also contribute to other sections of the Newsweek website.
We’re looking for someone who has an intermediate understanding of SEO content writing best practices. You’ll work closely with our SEO Editor to develop expert-level content with the primary goal of driving organic traffic.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of SEO best practices directly related to ranking in Google Search including E-E-A-T, topical authority, and on-page optimization.
- Ability to write and edit clean copy in a fast-paced environment delivering content that's accurate, thorough, and authoritative.
- Ability to fact-check information and source high-quality data from academic sources, data studies, etc.
- Understands the fine line between optimized and over-optimized organic content.
- Familiar with keyword research tools such as Ahrefs and Semrush.
- Bonus: Experience with content optimization platforms such as Clearscope, SurferSEO, Frase, or MarketMuse.
- Bonus: Experience writing workplace and/or business-related content.
Responsibilities:
- Write new content (and refresh existing content) under Newsweek’s Workplaces section with the primary goal of driving organic traffic.
- Ensure content follows best practices for SEO on-page optimization including titles, meta descriptions, subheadings, alt text, and internal linking.
- Occasionally pitch story ideas for evergreen content based on current trends or keyword research.
- Occasionally edit evergreen content from other writers for grammar, accuracy, style, and SEO best practices.
- Ensure all content follows Newsweek editorial guidelines and brand standards.
Salary range: $45,000 - $65,000
